The first in an occasional series of Lancashire CCC postcard monographs, ‘The Lancashire Cricket Team’ solves the mystery surrounding this uncommon cricket postcard. Questions regarding the appearance in the team group of the Surrey and England cricketer Morice Carlos Bird, the date, and the venue are answered. It also features a short account of the opening of the new cricket ground in Heywood, Rochdale, and the long-forgotten “Roses” match that followed: Sir Edwin Stockton’s England XI v. Myles Kenyon’s Lancashire County XI.
