Mold’s Marvellous Feat features a short account of the two-day fixture between North & East Ridings of Yorkshire and Manchester Club and Ground at Castleford in 1893. What was originally intended to be an 11-a-side match was changed to 12-a-side due to the contentious inclusion in the home side of George Baker, a Yorkshire-born, Lancashire County professional batsman. This would, ultimately, result in the Lancashire fast bowler Arthur Mold taking all-11 wickets in an innings, including a hat-trick. A quite remarkable achievement.
